October - Blogger Of The Month!

Hello! So today is the first day of my 'Blogger of the month!' segment! And this week it's Bex at Futures. Now, there are several reasons as to why I've selected Bex this month and one of them is obviously because I adore her blog and she updates reguarly, not to mention she has a beautiful baby boy, but also, this week Bex annouced that she was in fact ENGAGED! I've decided to post this as a sort of 'congratulations' post, as I'm very happy for her! I've only recently started talking to Bex but I feel like I've found someone to talk to when I need someone. She's lovely, kind and considerate and this news couldn't happen to someone nicer!

So I hope you'll join me in congratulating her and will go and give her blog a look and a follow! Once again Congratualtions and wish you all the best for the future!

If you've read the newspapers lately then you'll have read about the horrific events involving two police officers who were killed in a set up attack. Now, with it being a sensitive time for the police force was it the right time for a respected member of the conservative party to turn around and so publicly insult them? My guess is no!

'Pleb' is known in the dictionary as an insult to say, in simple terms the lowest of the low. Now, my question is, with the police not only dealing with a personal tragedy but also having to deal with cut backs, what gives this certain individual to right to give these hard working officers such a low status and rough time? Because my bet is, if his bike went missing, he'd be the first to call in the police? Correct me if I'm wrong?

As a person who has a police member in my family, I don't think they quite realize how much it hits home when you hear of a police officer being killed, all you can think is 'that could of been my brother!'. All im trying to get across here, is when people are doing the job they're suppose to be doing, what gives people the right to throw insults and abuse at them? Nothing does, even on the worst day you could be having, all I have to say is I'd like to see anyone who thinks they could do a better job try and do so!

As much as this may be biased I am a person to admit when I'm wrong. I'm not saying the police are angels, take the 1989 Hillsbrough disaster for example, the cover up and shaming the dead for all those years was wrong, and being a Liverpool fan I was disgusted, but what needs to be said is that it was a small minority of the entire UK police force involved, so why tarnish everyone with the same brush, should we do the same to MPs? No, we'd be scrutinized!

But what makes what happened to these officers worse? People taking to social media sites such as Facebook and twitter to praise, yes PRAISE the killer! It once again raises the question of 'Is social media freedom of speech or is it just plain abuse', I know what my view is! To slate the police is one thing, but to congratulate someone on killing them? That is just vile! As many people see it, are social network sites in need of being monitored more And should the offending 'trolls' as they're known be prosecuted? Or does that go against their human rights? Baring in mind those PC's lost there's the moment they were shot and blown up? Theres something to think about.

So I'll leave you with a question? I firmly believe in the police and what they do, and I believe you should ce able to do your job without being attacked and abused, but how many actually agree with me?

That's all, Emily.

I owe you an apology!

Hello all!
I have to make an apology to all my beautiful readers! I haven't been blogging very much this past month which upsets me more than I can describe! I could come up with every excuse under the sun but instead I'm going to be honest with you about why I've been a bit 'absent'. I'd love up tell you it's because I've been doing something amazing and exciting but it's not, well not the whole of why I haven't blogged is anyway!

First off, at the start of the month I went into a depressive state, I'd failed my driving test, didn't get 4 jobs of gone for and watched all my friends prepare to go to Uni. Now as self centered this must sound, I Felt jealous! I didn't want to go to Uni, never have if I'm honest, but I got that typical feeling of I want to do something with my life. It just felt like I was sinking and nothing could pull me out of the failure that I saw my life!

Nothing was working to make me feel better about things, not even the birth of my boyfriends niece, if anything it made me worse, watching another person be happy when your anything but happy! Now I'm not a selfish person I was happy for them! But I just wished something would go right for me, so after a long chat with my mum and with my boyfriend aswell I decided to stop feeling so sorry for myself and do something!

The first step? Well after thinking about what made me unhappy, I wrote a list of what I wanted to change in my life, no matter how small it was! It was a struggle to accept that I was unhappy but once I'd thought and discussed I instantly started to feel better! I won't start going into detail about my list as its quite personal to me, but I'll keep you informed!

I've already taken the steps to complete 4 out of the 10 things I wrote down which on brief overview is arranging to see a flat next week with my boyfriend, going to a job interview, with a company who I hope will see my potential, stated a diet and booked my driving test! I realized that no one could make me happy until I'm happy with myself and once again I'll be honest, without my blog and lovely followers I don't think id ever have come out of my slump. But truth is I now know its ok not to feel ok for a while! Because I'll always have people around me who support me.

I can't thank those who have helped me enough, from those close to me, to the companies giving me a chance to show my skills and also, you my followers, life has bumps in The road but with people around you, it's a smother ride (sorry for the cheese!)

Thanks for reading, I'll post more soon, cause I'm back!!

Much love, Emily xxxx

MUA Mascara Review

(I've been meaning to post this for a while!)

I recently purchased this mascara and i'll be honest I wasn't expecting much! But I have to say I was rather impressed, it clearly defined my lashes as you can see from above, my eyelashes don't normally like to look 'full and luscious!' but this mascara came close. I'm not going to lie, it's not as good as some of the higher end products, but it's very good for the price you pay. It also gives a full colour. For a £1 this is something I will be repurchasing, and it's perfect for a student on a budget! It also comes off as easily as it is applied! I would recommend this to anyone!

Party Planning! - The Initial Stages!

Hello! So I recently posted on twitter about doing a surprise party for my boyfriend! It's ok, he doesn't read my blog! So I just wanted to keep you lot involved as always, and I promise to make it better than my 18th planning! And when I say involved I'm so interested to hear your ideas, and listen to your thoughts on my ideas! I'm super excited about this, as it seems my boy's birthday always goes un-noticed! So since we've been together, I put together something every year, although the 1st year I didn't. This will be our 3rd birthday together, and last year I did a BBQ with his close family and friends! It went so well and his family were super impressed! I'm going a step up this year, and as he is going to be a quarter of a century old, I think it's time to celebrate! I have the idea of inviting his family and close friends to a hall, and have food, a disco and a good cake! (which I'm going to make myself!). What I do have to bare in mind is there are alot of small children in his family, so I might even do party bags for them!

So at the moment I've got very few Ideas, but with my own party just passed, I know quite a few good venues! I'm hoping I can pull this off just as well! I've already spoken to his mum and roped her in! The week after I'm hoping to take him on holiday!

So if you've ever planned a 25th or any party, I'd be greatful for any help, tips and ideas! Anyway, that's it for now!

Emily.

New Baby Gift Idea's!

Hello All! So Today's post is a slightly off the beauty topic (YET AGAIN!) So lately I've been the go to person with my family and friends to get gift ideas for occassions such as birthday's, anniversaries and even new babies/baby showers! Earlier this year my boyf's brother annouced that he and his girlfriend were having a baby, which is due any day now! For a gift, we wanted to get something different. Everyone gets the cute outfits and toys. And seeing as we couldn't afford anything too big, such as the pram which we was originally going to get them, we opted for a homemade gift basket. We have already given them the hamper in which they nearly cried. We filled it with little bits, essentials if you will and also including treats for the mummy!  Inside we included;

  1. Scratch Mittens (All new babys need these!)
  2. Baby Monitors
  3. Socks! (In the words of my boyf you can never have to many!)
  4. A waterproof coat (Yes we caved!)
  5. Bibs!
  6. Baby lotion, shampoo, oil and powder
  7. Nappy sacks
  8. Nappies
  9. Condoms (A little joke!)
  10. Teething rings
  11. Dummies
  12. Chocolate
  13. Bath bombs
  14. Baby Bath Towels

We've also got them a few more things such as a keep sake box where you put the baby's hospital bracelet, first tooth and first curl. But we've kept these until the baby's born. We know that she's having a girl which made it alot easier to buy for. To place the items in, I brought a pink plastic box for £1!! from the market, filled it with pink and purple tissue and wrapped the presents up in pink paper. Below I've put together some ideas of what things look like and what to put into the hamper. On top of this, I've also got a cake planned to welcome the baby! That's also a nice idea. If you're truley stuck for ideas this website has some good ideas!

I hope you've found this helpful and feel free to email me/twitter me any questions or for any ideas!

Much love, Emily.
